If you’re new to Pilates…
How does Pilates work?
Pilates movements gently stretch the muscles, pulling them into a leaner shape. Practising Pilates is an excellent preventative technique that will strengthen your whole body against potential injury, making it more supple.
Pilates is unique in that it will systematically exercise all the muscle groups in the body, the weak as well as the strong.
It’s a wonderful fusion of the suppleness that you find in Yoga with building strength that comes from visiting the gym. In this way, it aims to create balance and natural poise, taking into consideration all the factors involved in maintaining a healthy body. We become more aware of, and can identify and subsequently alter, our bad habits.
With a strong foundation, you can build good core stability within your body.
You will look and feel different.
From my perspective as an instructor, understanding the principles of Pilates at the very beginning helps you progress and adds to the positive experience.
Pilates teaches you to listen to your body once again and adapt to its needs. Understanding why you need to do an exercise in a specific way makes you more inclined to perform it correctly. Doing this on a regular basis makes you fitter and stronger.

Improvers Pilates
This is the class for you if you’re already familiar with the principles of Pilates and have completed a beginner’s class or equivalent.
Pilates develops deep core strength, tones, strengthens and lengthens the whole body. It restores balance to the body and the mind.
During the Improver sessions, you’ll continue to focus on correct technique and improving your positions and practice of Pilates. Your flexibility will increase and you’ll become more toned with enhanced posture and core strength and gain a greater awareness of your body.
I’ll make sure you follow the correct technique and will lead by demonstrating this regularly throughout each session.
Here is what my clients are saying
Gosh Annette – I tnink I have been doing your Pilates class for getting on for 9 years now. Am I addicted ? All I know is I feel much better for it and I really hate it when I am away for a few weeks as I then feel all podgy again. Great for toning, balance and strength.
Since I started Pilates with you nearly 2 years ago my upper body strength has improved a lot. I’m pleased with the improvement in my press ups and how many I can manage. I feel my posture has also improved and I’m much more aware of how I’m standing or moving. Thanks Annette for making the lessons fun and encouraging a friendly atmosphere in the class. I’ ve never stuck at an exercise class for so long and I think it’s because we’ve got to know each other and we enjoy a laugh together. Well done for making Pilates fun and enjoyable.
